LRMC Has a New Library!
Los Robles Master Chorale has acquired the choral library of the Master Chorale of Washington (D.C.). This extraordinary collection of music, featuring over a thousand choral selections, as well as many accompanying orchestral scores for works in the choral repertoire, was amassed by the Washington group over its 43-year history, which included over ninety performances at the Kennedy Center. Master Chorale of Washington gave its final concert on May 19, 2009.
The library, which LRMC acquired during a lively online auction, will be a major asset for the group, supplying it with much of the music it will perform in years to come. LRMC will also make music from this prodigious choral library available for rental by other music groups.
In order to buy the library, the LRMC Board of Directors spearheaded a whirlwind three-day fund raising effort during which Chorale singers, family, and friends stepped up and pledged the money needed for the purchase. Additional funding is still needed for shipping and housing the library, and LRMC encourages anyone who wishes to be a part of this worthy acquisition to make a contribution to help defray these costs.
This choral library purchase is the first of many exciting plans LRMC has for expanding its organization and furthering its commitment to being the finest choral ensemble in Ventura County. We are also actively working to build a new board of directors made up of energetic, community-minded individuals who love the arts and wish to play a vital role in helping Los Robles Master Chorale attain its goals.
