Become Part of the Journey
2013|14 Los Robles Master Chorale
Young Artist Choral Composer Competition
Winner - Giorgio Navarini
Giorgio Navarini was born in Sacramento in 1994. At seven, he began piano lessons and continued until receiving his National Guild of Pianists diploma in 2010. In high school, he reluctantly joined a church choir, where he found an aptitude and love for sacred music, especially Gregorian chant and the work of Palestrina. During high school, he also learned to play the organ and the accordion, and sang in a barbershop quartet. At fifteen, inspired by the Choir of King's College, Navarini began composing descants for hymns and carols. Soon after, he began arranging various Christmas carols and hymns, then began composing his own. He is currently a student at Thomas Aquinas College, where he directs the men's choral group, and he hopes to become a choral director of sacred music and an organic farmer. Navarini offers special thanks to his mother and father, and to his inspirational choral teachers, Kathleen Winters, Jeffrey Morse, and Thomas Quackenbush, who have greatly helped him along the path to musicianship.
Navarini's winning contest entry, The Christ Child, will be premiered by the Chorale at the annual holiday concert, Holiday Presence, on December 14, 2013 at 7:30PM at St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church in Newbury Park, California.
