Educational Outreach
One key element of Los Robles Master Chorale's mission is its commitment to arts education, with particular emphasis on nurturing the choral singers, conductors, director and supporters of tomorrow.
On October 22, 2011, LRMC will sponsor its second High School Choral Leadership Workshop, an all-day event led by Artistic Director Lesley Leighton. This will be a rare opportunity for serious high school choral singers, selected by their choir directors, to work in an intimate setting on improving their individual singing and ensemble leadership skills. Singers will focus on healthy choral tone, proper vowel productions, blending voices, and proper musical interpretation. A special session will highlight techniques for sight reading rhythms and intervals. The day is designed for advanced singers and leaders who will share their improved knowledge and skills with their home choruses. Following the morning workshops, all singers will attend sectionals and full rehearsals, then join together for an afternoon performance open to the public. Choir directors are invited to attend with their selected students.
